I want to go way back in the annals of time for a moment. Bare with me as I remember a mother and father that believed in the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. The two, despite the present distress; ( for all the children of Israel had fallen into bondage and were under atrocious persecution,) had extraordinary faith in God. Now the new Pharaoh had forgotten Joseph and how he wrought deliverance to a famished Egypt. In doing so, he sat down on the people and oppressed them and made them serve with rigor and hard bondage. He made a decree that all the male children should be eliminated. But Amram and Jochebed, feared not the edict of the king. They saw that he was a proper child and hid him 3 months, trusting the God of their fathers to deliver him. Surely he would have a plan for their little boy. Not only did the God of their fathers deliver him, he turned him around and he became the deliverer of his people. God’s plan was tremendous! Amram and Jochebed, we salute you. You are definitely in the hall of fame of faith!
Hebrews 11:23-29
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
